Preheat oven to 375° F

1 cup butter
1 1/3 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch of salt

Cinnamon Sugar Coating
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Cream the butter, sugar and eggsin mixer until fluffy. Mix the remaining dry ingredients together and then gradually add to the butter mixture, scraping bowl occasionally with spatual to ensure even mixing. Roll into 1 inch balls and roll in cinnamon sugar to thoroughly coat. Place dough on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10 - 12 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and let cool for one to two minutes on cookie sheets before placing on cooling racks.
